Negotiation Strategy and Tactics

The Negotiation Strategy and Tactics (NST) programme focuses on the critical tasks required for each stage of a negotiation. Participants learn how to manage the process of negotiation from planning through to implementation using tactics that best fit a particular situation. Fast-paced and highly experiential, the programme provides the opportunity to practise negotiation skills and receive feedback from experienced trainers and fellow participants.

Why Choose Negotiation Strategy and Tactics
NST develops skills in managing the negotiation process. It accomplishes this by developing an understanding of the stages of a negotiation and by teaching participants how to select the appropriate tactics to ensure effective management of each stage. NST can be tailored to a particular audience or industry by selecting appropriate cases and practice exercises. Used well, negotiation strategy produces quality agreements that last and that improve, rather than disrupt, working relationships.

Course Objectives
During the course participants will:

  • learn when to negotiate... and when not to.
  • acquire standards for reaching quality agreements that last.
  • plan and prepare for formal and informal negotiations.
  • learn how to analyse conflict situations and to select and implement appropriate tactics.
  • learn how to manage the negotiation process more effectively.
